Dr. Craig Taylor DMD

2019-21 Georgia Oral and and Facial Surgery Accredited Fellow in Cosmetic and Reconstructive Surgery

Dr. Craig Taylor is a Georgia native and new addition to the Georgia Oral and Facial Surgery practice. Dr. Taylor was born and raised in Columbus, GA. He then proceeded to study at the University of Georgia, where he graduated Summa Cum Laude with a degree in Biology. After finishing his studies in Athens, GA, Dr. Taylor then matriculated to the Medical College of Georgia's School of Dentistry (now the Dental College of Georgia). There, he obtained his DMD in 2011, graduating in the top 10 of his class.

After graduating dental school, Dr. Taylor initially embarked on a career in general dentistry. He completed a 1 year Advanced General Dentistry residency with an emphasis on IV Sedation and Implant Dentistry. After completing his first residency, he practiced General Dentistry in his home town of Columbus, GA for three years. Dr. Taylor then made the decision to pursue his passion for surgical training and applied for Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency. He then completed his 4 years of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery training at Augusta University, where he trained extensively in broad scope OMFS practice. He also performed research in the field of outpatient anesthesia, where his clinical investigation of IV Dexmedetomidine won the outstanding research award at the nationwide AAOMS meeting.

Dr. Taylor had the opportunity to complete a surgical externship with the surgeons at Georgia Oral & Facial Surgery while in residency. During that time, he developed a strong interest in the fields of facial cosmetic and reconstructive surgery, advanced orthognathic and TMJ surgery, and microneurosurgery. He then decided to pursue additional post-graduate fellowship training and signed on with Georgia Oral & Facial Surgery as a fellow in facial cosmetic and reconstructive surgery and an associate in clinical Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery.

Dr. Taylor is married to his wife, Lena, with whom they have two young sons. His personal interests include CrossFit training, UGA collegiate sports, and Atlanta professional sports teams.
