Michael Neimkin, M.D. - Oculofacial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon
Dr. Neimkin attended Samford University on an athletic scholarship. He then obtained his medical degree from the University of Alabama School of Medicine. During medical school, he received an endowed scholarship to study surgical innovation at L'Université Louis Pasteur and IRCAD (Institut de Recherche contre les Cancers de l’Appareil Digestif) in Strasbourg, France under tutelage of renowned surgeon Jacques Marescaux. He continued his training in Ophthalmology at the University of Alabama's Callahan Eye Foundation, where he was elected chief resident by his peers. He then completed a 2-year oculofacial plastic, cosmetic, reconstructive and oncologic surgery fellowship at Washington University in St. Louis. Dr. Neimkin is a diplomat of the American Board of Ophthalmology, and one of only a few hundred surgeons nationally to be accredited by the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons(ASOPRS).
His experience includes over 6,000 surgical procedures focusing on the eyelids, eyebrows, forehead, orbits, tear ducts and midface. He has published over 75 peer-reviewed journal articles, book chapters and scientific lectures. He serves as a journal reviewer for Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Orbit, JAMA, the American Journal of Ophthalmology, and Ophthalmology.
Dr. Neimkin, his wife Kimberly, and daughter Nell reside in the city of Atlanta. They enjoy outdoor activities, running, cooking, and professional sports.
